Mastering time management is the key to success for work at home moms. It is a skill that every work from home mom needs in order to be successful in business and at home.  Most moms believe that mastering  time  management is their problem, but I have discovered that is not the case. The real problem is not time-management, but self management. Being able to manage one self is crucial to ones success.

Mastering time management is a serious self management problem for work at home moms. Have you ever had someone say “How do you do it?!”  They are referring to you keeping up with your business as well as your family life. This is a very popular question asked among moms who work from home.

Yes we want our home business to be a success, but we don’t want the rest of our responsibilities to fall apart. Especially our children, the main reason we chose to work from home in the first place.

While you may be familiar with some of the things I am going to mention, I hope you find some additional ideas from the mastering time management ideas below. These tips are going make things easier for you, while working from home and caring for young children.

Mastering Time Management Tips

These 13 self management tips are going to help you succeed in your home business.

1) Have a clear purpose when you go to your computer-Whenever you go to your computer, have a purpose in mind. Keep a notebook , your goals and a to-do lists, near your computer all in once place. This will keep you from constantly checking your emails or surfing the internet. End results are having less distractions and getting more done.

2) Know what you need to accomplish- write it down, do it, cross it off your list and move on to the next activity.

3) Outsource as much as possible- Think about hiring a virtual assistant if you have too many administrative tasks. Or pay your kids to do things for you that are age appropriate. This can even be a tax deductible expense, be sure to check with your accountant.

One of the best things you can do is to spend some money and hire a mommy helper to take the kids outside and play for several hours. You will be amazed at what you will accomplish within that time period. Plus, I did not mention that kids usually get worn out from all the fun and take longer naps. In this case everybody wins!

 4) Be sure to evaluate your activities- Think about everything that you do in your business and see if those activities are paying off for you. There are work at home moms doing too many activities. Therefore they are stretched and not able to develop the muscle they need in order for their business to grow.  I suggest that you focus on one business. Ask people who are where you want to be in your business, how do they manage themselves and their time.

 5) Organize your Thought-Think in terms of an assembly line. In other words, group similar activities together. Don’t check your email all day, from the time you get up until the time you go to bed. Have a set time where you check it two or 3 times a day (at most) and answer all the emails at the same time.

When you desire to make changes to your website, list all of the changes  and them all at one time.  When one child asks for a story read a story to all of them. Same thing applies to all areas of taking care of your children. Run all your errands at the same time.

6)Utilize Technology- 

a) Get a laptop with a wireless internet connection. This can make a big difference in your ability to work online around your children. You can sit on the front porch and work on your website while your kids play in the yard. Or you can drop them off at a friend’s house and head to Starbucks and grab a cup of coffee to work.

b) Get a smart phone, often times it will not be convenient to use your laptop to work.  Smart phones are like mini computers., you can do just about everything on them. Only feature I have not figured out is how to copy paste.

C) Use autoresponders, mailing lists and other resources to automate your business.

7) Eliminate repeated activities- If you find yourself typing out answers to the same questions over and over again, create a video and add it to your website, an e-course, a downloadable report or upload a youtube video that addresses those topics and refer your clients to them.

8 ) Manage your household-simplifying your meal preparations and shopping. This does not mean spend more money on convenience junk foods that are destroying the health of you and your children. Come up with some simple meals that your children can help you with.

a) Become best friends with your crock pot, find recipes that require few ingredients and no elaborate preparation.

b) Have a good routine for making menus and shopping. In the long run, extra trips to the store for that missing ingredient is going to cost you time and money.

c)Most families eat the same dishes over and over again.  Enlist the help of your family to figure out what those favorites meals are, print up the ingredients into a shopping list, and take that to the store. Have the list posted on the fridge to mark things off as they’re used up.

d) Get your kids to help out around the house- give them chores at an early age. Not only will you be mastering time management, but you will be teaching them responsibilities.

9) Identify time wasters-Identify time wasters in your day they are different for everyone. It might be television, maybe it’s to much time on the phone with friyouends. Maybe it’s unnecessary activities that aren’t productive. For example, posting a lot of messages on Facebook, unless you have a tool that does it for . Whatever it is, identify it and eliminate it if possible, or at least manage it. Utilize your voicemail, and call people back when it’s convenient for you.

10) Use a timer for everything- Become best friends with your timer. A timer can be used for just about everything. You can set it to instruct your child of the times you are available for them. Young children have a hard time comprehending time. The timer will set them at ease so they won’t disturbe you that entire period. It also keeps you on track and helps you finish up tasks more quickly. Use it when you’re reading email, cleaning house, whenever you want to accomplish something fast.

 11) Develop A Daily Routine- Having a routine for your household chores and business activities can really help moms with mastering time management. When you have a good routine, you can do things without thinking, and they always take up less time that way.  Keep your routines written down until you have them memorized.

Use an organizational calender or digital system…whichever works best for you.  Make everyone in your house aware of the basics of your routine so that things will flow.

12) Set limits for your self- No one person can do everything. Your time and energy is valuable and you need to be firm in setting limits on how you spend it. Don’t commit to things that you can’t reasonably accomplish.

13) Get enough rest- Learn to say No. Avoid negative people who like to whine, pat your self on the back often when you accomplish baby steps and don’t forget to take a 5 minute break and relax, before working on a difficult task.

As Moms we’re constantly working on mastering time management, but with creativity and good routines, we can have a thriving business and a balanced life.

Time Management Tips That Save Money

Well I am here to tell you, it is not necessary for you to buy these books in order to master the skill of time management. All you need is common sense and self-discipline.  Don’t give up hope, there is an answer to achieving your goal. Here are some tested and proven techniques that will help you manage your time. Often times you will hear people say, make a to do list, but I am here to tell you the list will never work if you won’t back it up with self-discipline. When talking about self-discipline in this context, it means knowing your priorities and abiding by the rules that you have set for yourself.

7 Simple Time Management Tips to Follow

1. Every night create a to do list for the day- This is a traditional way to manage your time. Basically you make a list of things you need to do for the day, this list will keep your task in the forefront of your thoughts. Also this list will help you to avoid distractions when they occur through out the day. Many experts recommended creating a flexible to do list; the flexibility will allow you to adjust when unexpected emergencies arrive, that typically will destroy your entire list.

2. Get rid of bad time management habits – If you completed a diary on your every day activities you’d probably notice that you spend a lot of time on Facebook, watching too much TV or other forms of entertainment. It is okay to spend time on entertainment, but not when it exceeds the allotted time for it. Changing your habits would increase your time to do more productive activities.

3. Set three things to do for the day as top priority. – The idea of setting priorities in your list is that those on top of the list are what you need to do first. It also encourages you to finish on time when you use it with your to do list and daily schedule.

4. It’s okay to say “NO” – When asked do something, most people have a hard time saying “NO”. As a result they have more on their plate then they can handle. This is necessary when it comes to tasks that are not that important. Example: watching a movie, game. You must remember, after completing your tasks, you will have plenty of time to entertain yourself.  If you desire to go out, plan a week ahead of time, this will allow you to finish your task ahead of time and save your time for your long time of entertainment.

5. Split up your workload – This is very helpful when working with other people in a team environment. You can’t do everything by yourself and be effective. When you outsource your workload, projects are completed faster because most people can focus on doing a specific task, instead of two or three task at one time.

6. Keeping your workplace organized – When your space is cluttered, it is difficult to find things and think. Sometimes it can take hours of your time to find a lost paper under a pile of clutter. As a result organization improves your over-all productivity.

7. Be sure to set goals for yourself – Writing down and reading out loud 2 times a day is a practical and
achievable goals for yourself. It is a very important step in proper achieving time management. Setting goals is the driving force that keeps you motivated to do your job. Remember efficiency is key to getting things done the right way.

Why Do People Join Groups

I have always viewed joining  groups as a waste of time. Until I asked myself the question “Why do people join groups?” Because I had never saw the true benefit until recently!

I had to stop and think about it,”Why do people join groups?” Then I realized we as a people  have always been apart of a group. The day that we were born we became apart of a group, many don’t  realize how important it is in every aspect of our lives..

We were born into a group, that included our mother, father and siblings. As a young child we are was taught in a groups. Those that have families of their own are  still apart of a group.

Everyone wants to belong to something greater than themselves and that is what I found out about groups.

Why Do People Join Groups for Their Home Business?

Mark Call asked us to write a blog post on “why do people join groups” as it relates to a home business. Before I address this question, I want to share with you an amazing person that I had the opportunity to meet in December 2011 at a round table mastermind with like minded millionaire’s. That person is Mark Call, if you ever get a chance to meet him, pay attention. He is a man with great wisdom.

Attending that mastermind group was one of the most humbling and amazing group experiences I have encountered in my home business. I was honored to be invited by Mark Call himself. He freely gave of himself and continues as it relates to his, time talent and treasure’s. Being apart of his group helped me realize if they did it so can I!

When Mark invited me to that meeting, I was determined to make it, to the point that I refused to go out and party with the rest of the guest at Daegan Smith’s Event.

Why Do People Join Groups Showed Me The Power Of Being Apart Of A Group.

After leaving that midnight matermind, was when I truly begin to see the power of a group with a leader who cares about your success and not his own personal gain. I was able to sit at a round table amongest millionaire’s and pick their brains, I can’t think of a better home business experience.

Mark’s question intriqued me to do some additional research and here are my results:

There are all types of groups in the world in which we live and most of the people that join these groups want to be apart of something. They are looking for someone who cares about them and their needs.

Why Do People Join Groups?

1) More than likely if they don’t feel apart of their current group,they will join the person that comes along and invites them into

their group.

2) Another reason is because their needs are not being meet, therefore they will join a group that fills their needs.

3) The last and final reason is because they have an interested in what the group/leader stands for.

Why  Do Others Benefit From Joining A Group?

1) A group provides motivation for them to do something that they typically would not do. Something they have always wanted to do, but did not have the motivation to get it done. Ex: a blog post, videos, sales letters, create their own product, manage time etc.

2) Another reason would be interpersonal interactions, people need to interact with others. Having a home business can be a lonely place if they don’t have like minded people to connect with on a daily basis and brain storm ideas with. Developing fiendships with people is a high need for most people in business.

3) Groups Create Synergy- a group of people that come together working toward a common goal will complete an idea or project in a shorter amount of time. Have you ever heard the saying,”two heads are better than one?”One of the many reasons why I believe people in home businesses should not be working alone. When one works alone, he/she is limiting his/her results.

4) Provides encouragement and support- Having a home business can be discouraging in the beginning, that is anothern reason why people jon groups, they are encouraged to not give up. Also the group members help them find solutions to their problems, where as if the group did not exist they probably would have given up.

5) Helps them provide leadership and prove their abilities- by interacting with the group, helping others and completing tasks that are given to them. Including helping the group out, when the group leader is not available.

In conclusion I recommend anyone who is pursing a home based business to become apart of a group and would love to invite you to become apart of my group.

The guy showed up to my house, but could not find the bat. He said it would be easier if we could close him off somehow. When he left I was thinking how are you going to get a bat out of your house?
I had a plan!

I told as many people as possible my bat experience and they gladly shared theirs. What they did not know was I was coming up with a plan for the monster that was trying to take over my house.
I cleaned up my son’s room and just in case the bat was able to hold us hostage again we were prepared for another night of family bonding time lol
By the way my daughter said that was some of the best bonding time we had in a while. That is typically what happens when you are locked up in a small room. She said it would have been fun, if it was not for the bat!
Next I hung up sheets on most of the doorways. Then on my way home I called hubby and asked him to go to the garage and get the tennis rackets out. I was shocked he bought 6 of them in the house, one tennis racket for every room.
My daughter did not want to be there another night, so I grabbed us something to eat then dropped her off to her friend’s house. I decided not to cook, because I needed to be on bat patrol. After dropping her off her friend’s mother told me that they had a similar experience and that both her and her hubby were scared when it happened. She also told me they start to wake up about the time we were talking.
I quickly ended the conversation and raced home because it was time to have a bat party! I sat down and ate my food and then all of a sudden our dog starts going crazy. Hubby says “ Bae come look at how this dog is acting!”
I felt sorry for him you could tell that he was scared, because the night before the bat visited him while he was in his cage.
I ran into the living room where baby boy was and looked at the sheet that was hanging. I called out to my oldest son and said is that you? He was in his room. I went closer and could see the black shadow. I yell out to my husband “Bae the bat is awake” He told me to call for help, I tried calling everyone that I knew, but no one answered. I ran next door and no one answered. I then remember the college students across the street who I barely knew. No more than saying hi. I ran to the back yard where they were partying and ask them if they were afraid of bats? Their response was “I don’t think so.”
They came to the house and took the tennis rackets that we had. I could see it from outside flying around in my living room like crazy as hubby was holding the door in one hand and baby boy in the other. He was hoping that the bat would come out of the door. But the bat said “no way, it’s too light outside!”
To shorten up a long story, our college neighbors helped us get rid of the bat, but I now know what to do if another one enters my home and that is to keep a tennis racket in all rooms and play bat the ball when he decided to come without being invited.
The moral of my story is, that fear can cripple you! You must make a choice to accept it or fight it. You may not win at the first attempt but as long as you keep fighting you will win!

Help a bat has held us captive! It all started out Wednesday night at 11pm, I heard my youngest son wit DS scream “stop leave me alone” I could tell there was fear in his voice. I was in my office working on a project, but immediately stopped what I was doing and raced to see what was wrong with him. I could not get there fast enough. I charged up the stairs and at the same time I heard my husband race to his rescue.

I realized that my husband made it to him. And as I was approaching his room,  I was stopped in my tacks, by a bat who was approaching me head on. I screamed “Oh my God it’s a bat!” I rolled over into the bathroom and the next thing that I heard was my daughter running down the hall to her oldest brother’s room. Then I heard her slam the door!

All I could think of was, how to get a bat out of your house?

I had heard so many horror stories of bats carrying Rabies, that I had become immobilized and went into a state of shock.

As I was sitting there thinking about “how are you going to get a bat out of your house, I began communicating to my husband through the walls, all of a sudden he says “I think it is on the back of the door.” He grabs baby boy and charges into my oldest son’s room. The entire family is together except me. I am yelling through the door trying to tell them what to do, but it is very difficult.  If you are a woman that lives with men, you will understand what I am talking about lol It was very difficult trying to give them directions on how to get a bat out of your house.

I searched for my phone, but could not find it. That is not like me. Typically I will have my phone on me, but this time I thought, I did not. Later on that day I come to find out that I did… smh.

As I am sitting there on the bathroom flooring trying to come up with a plan the house alarm goes off, boy did that bring up my stress level. How was I going to call the alarm company and tell them it was a false alarm without me yelling through the doors trying to tell the guys what to do.

I sat there on the bathroom floor, looking around to see what I could use to escape from the captivity of the bat. I kept saying to myself, I will never make it through this if I stay in this bathroom. I looked around to see what could use to hit the bat if it came after me, because staying there was not an option.

I saw a wet towel, grabbed it and thought to myself I will hit it and throw the towel over it if it comes after me.

I looked out the bathroom door and it was clear. I did not see it flying around, therefore I took a chance and ran into my sons room.

It was a great sigh of relief that we were all together, but my thought where how to get a bat out of your house, without it attacking us and giving us rabies?

Hubby and I both had always heard, you don’t want to be bitten by a bat, because it will give you rabies! Therefore we both had become captives of a bat, because every time we went to open the door, the bat would be flying in front of the door.

We were clueless as what to do. I decided to ask my friends on facebook how to get a bat out of your house? My friends gave me some wonderful suggestions. I am so thankful for my facebook friends. Did I mention that, I love them, they hold a very special place in my heart!

They had some good ideas, but everything they told us to do, we did not feel as if we could do. The only thing we had was the towel, that I brought in with me from the bathroom. All I could think of was, how will I get the bat out of my house if it does not die after I hit it.

I tried calling critter control places in Toledo, but no one was available. One place I called a woman answered the phone and said that is my son’s business, but he is deceased. I gave her my condolences and begin to wonder did he pass away because of being bit by a bat. Wow I understand why the bible tells us to guard our thoughts. I had to replace those thoughts immediately! Because I thought hmm if that bat bites me I might be leaving her too.

Meanwhile the alarm is still going off and we are clueless as what to do. No one could come and rescue us without busting out some window. And that was the last thing that we wanted.

We came to the conclusion that we would be spending the night in my son’s room and would not leave out until the morning.

Well there was a problem and that was we did not have access to a restroom. Just about everyone in my house had to use the restroom. Me always trying to make the best out of  a bad situation says “why don’t you go to the bathroom it’s across the hall” They respond with you must be losing your mind lol” Since we are part-time campers, it was not difficult for us to make an adjustment. Not a story that I am proud to share, but it is the real world.

Finally after falling asleep and waking up, I layed on my son’s bed praying and asking God to give me courage to fight the bat. I realize if I did not do something soon then I would have to spend another night with the bat. I jumped up and said I am going out here! We grabbed our towels and charged out the door , but the bat was no were to be found. I charged down the stairs and opened the front door as hubby had my back lol.

After the bat never came out, I realized he was sound asleep and that I would have to spend another night with unwanted guest!

Queen Of A 5 Hour Work Week

This week is women’s conference at my church, therefore you are going to love this post because it is going to be short and to the point.

As you may already know, I have been marketing online for 3 years now. I have come to know what works and what does not work.

What I will tell you is the internet is a time sucker. It literally eats up your time and at the end of the day you find yourself asking the question, what did I accomplish today?

Here are some tips to help you have a productive day. With the end results of working less and earning more.

1) Create a to do list the night before.

2) Do all of the hard stuff 1st.

3) Reward yourself when you have completed a difficult task.

4) Avoid with all cost facebook, emails, voice mail, until you have completed those things on your to do list for that day. Limit yourself to no more than 30 minutes.

Their spouse constantly complains about them not making any money and as a result they eventually quit.

They say that 98% of people in our industry fail and to be honest with you that number has me concerned. Hang on because I have a solution for you, that will get them off your back.

Why do you think 98% of the people who join the network marketing/internet marketing industry fail? One of the main reasons is that 2% is willing to do what 98% of the population won’t do.

The 2% are not hung up on fancy cars, houses, watching tv, name brand clothes, etc. They are willing to take risk with their money, time and resources, etc. The 2% will live on the bare minimum, to get the maximum return.

Are you a 2%er or a 98%er?

I want to take a minute and talk to the 98%, that are not suceeding in network marketing or the internet marketing industry.

What I would like to say is, you don’t have to be a 98%er. You can achieve anything that you set your mind out to do. But you must first work on your mindset.

Every successful person that I know, that has been successful says the same thing “mindset is the key. ” Therefore if mindset is the key. I ask are you working on your mindset daily?

If you are anything like I was growing up, all odds against you. Being rejected from your parents and peers, called dumb, stupid, ugly, and told you would not amount to anything. You will need to work on your mindset even more than the next person.

You might be one of those people that has a spouse/family/friends on your back, complaining about you not making any money in your business.

Let me ask you, how many people are you talking to about your business every day? If you are not talking to anyone about your business, than you are not going to make any money. You should be connecting to a minimum of 5 people every day about your business.

I said all that to say, the solution to getting your love ones off your back, is too go out  and make some money.

Back to the network marketing industry!

At least once a week, I will jump on a training to keep myself up to date on what is going on in the network marketing/ internet marketing industry.

Well here, lately I have notice something that is very disturbing. The last several trainings that I have attended, they are hyping up indusry leaders who have earned two and three cars within 48 hours.

Do I believe it? Yes! But is it possible for everyone to do that? No!

You may ask me, Rachale why do you say that? Because what they are not sharing with you is, that those people had a following before they joined that company.

Which means they had a sphere of influence over people. Therefore the odd are against you, if you don’t know alot of people.

However  there is a solution to one of the disturbing facts in network marketing.

If you have no money, more than likely it is going to take you longer to build your network marketing company. Longer then it takes the person who has money to invest in his or her business.

Have no fear my friend it is possible! Anytime there is no money too spend ,  you must exchange time. Which means you must put more time into your business and build relationships one at a time.

Tell the Truth!

1) Most of the gurus who say that they had no money and did not want to sell to their friends and family are not telling you everything.

If the truth be told, they had a credit card to do one or two things. Pay someone to teach them to advertise. Then they promote a system that has a sphere of influence.

I recently found out that many of the gurus learned how to market online from my mentor at Maximum Leverage.

Here is an option if you would like to improve you sphere of influence in your local town.

Start up a group in your local town and teach people solutions to a problem that you have knowledge on.

Queen Of A 5 Hour Work Week

I will share more with you about that in a minute.

After that conversation I was reminded of my early college years. I had just  finish graduating from high school and decided to go to college for business administration. But a year into my studies, my uncle convinced me to leave business administration and to get involved with computers because that was the way of the future.

Wow my uncle is a genius!

After spending a year studying computers, I realized it was not something I was  passionate about. I finally came to the conclusion that it was not for me and that  I wanted to study people. Why they do what they do and act the way that they act.

Most important I wanted to understand myself. Here I am on a journey of becoming a psycologist. I learned so much about why people do what they do, including myself.

That it scared me from ever becoming a psychologist. Especially when I heard that they are on the couch more than their patients. That was the last thing that I wanted!

After college I still had this burning desire to help people who had problems. Therefore I started up a business and name it “The Problem Solver” because I believed I could help people solve their problems.

All of a suden I found myself studying people in every area of life. I would always ask the question why did that person do that? Then I would come up with some conclusion as to why?

Because I grew up in foster care, it took me a longer time to pick up on anything that I pursued. Partly due to a lack of self confidence.

Buy inspite of my self esteem challenges, 12 years ago I pursued a career in `health and wellness via network marketing. My driving force for this new adventure was due to my mother being very ill.

I remember my mother always being sick, from the first day she picked my up when I was 12 years old. I was sick of seeing her sick! All I wanted to do is help her live a healthy life.

All of a sudden I found myself passionate about helping people who were sick. As a result my business was growing like crazy. The strange thing about it was I was in a network marketing business, but only had recruited a couple of people who soon left for the next shinny object.

I had absolutely no idea on how to lead a team and neither did my upline. Therefore I was left to manage a business I had no idea of how to do it. I was lost, all by my self without any direction.

Trying to do everything caused me to become stressed out and overwhelmed. To make matters worse my mother was sick and dieing. But I could not walk away from my business to see about my mother because I would lose all of my clients.

In short, the end results of that was burnout and 6 years of depression. Eventually losing my business.

Here I am almost 12 years later and after many years of research and observation to tell you what the network marketers industry is doing to people.

Therfore stay tuned for tomorrows post,  so that I can give you a inside look at what is going on and how you can avoid becoming apart of that statistics.
