Warrior of God, Demons

Discover the power God has given you to cast out demons!

I. The purpose of this teaching is, to learn how to become the warrior of God, that He’s called us to be by….

  1. Learning to gain freedom from demonic influences.
  2. Learning to utilize the armor of God.
  3. Learning to overcome and persevere in Jesus through spiritual warfare.

II. To become the warrior of God, Jesus first makes us aware of several things.

  1. Daily spiritual battles that surround us here on earth.
  2. The very real existence of the devil and his demons.
  3. And our role as the church to overcome their influences in our lives.

Some of the greatest spiritual battles we deal with in society have been overlooked because they are not recognized or understood through the spiritual realm, but through the natural eye, mind and thought.  E.g:

  1. Suicide
  2. Depression
  3. Hopelessness
  4. Poor upbringing
  5. Genetics or generational problems

(Some are cast as medical conditions) results, highly medicated along with several other side effects, still leaving the person miserable.

-We must start looking in the spiritual realm and start addressing these problems as spirits and engaging in the battle of spiritual warfare!

-If we don’t, we are left to further bondage and torment from our enemy, Satan.

III. We must learn and practice self-deliverance from demons, Jesus is our perfect model for doing so.

-(Everything Jesus did and demonstrated on this earth in front of the disciples and others was purposed to give us the tools we would need to overcome in this world)!

  1. Jesus Restores Two Demon-Possessed Men:

Matthew 8:24-27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.  “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?” Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.” He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.

-Yes, Jesus did deliver people from demons, and he was aggressive with those demons!

-Let’s break this down:

  1. Demon possessed people– People who are under the control of one or more demons.
  2. Demons are– Fallen angels who joined Satan in his rebellion against God and are now evil Spirits under Satan’s control.
  3. Demons help- Satan tempt people to sin and they have great destructive powers.
  4. But, when demons– are confronted by Jesus, they lose their power.
  1. So, this is what Jesus does:

-Though demons come from Satan and the spiritual wickedness in high places, it is Jesus who fully controls the forces of nature!

-Yes, even as He controlled the sea and the winds, He also has power over the demons!

He defeats and casts out the demons because…

  1. Every human being God’s created is uniquely and wonderfully made by Him.
  2. Every human made by God wants to be touched by his love!
  3. He does not wish for anyone to be tormented.
  4. Yes, as Jesus did not look past or turn his back on those who were unclean, or who violate our moral standards, we too must become assertive and aggressive and assist in casting out these demonic forces.

2. The Word of God tells us, violent men, take the kingdom of God by force! (This is needed to overcome and live life abundantly)!

Matt. 11:11-12- “Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force”.

-We can’t afford to walk around with our heads in the cloud any longer, being passive and pretending spiritual warfare does not exist.

(‘If you don’t think there’s a war going on, you just became a casualty”Rabbi Schneider).

  1. The Lord is a warrior:

Exod. 15:2-3-“The Lord is my strength and my defense;  he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name”.

-Now that we know the Lord is a warrior and if we are to be His ambassadors, we must make a decision to also become warriors in this spiritual battle!

IV. If demons were present when Jesus was on earth, then they are still present now!

Satan’s craftiness allows them to come in many forms:

  1. School shootings.
  2. Cutting and suicide.
  3. PTSD, anxiety.
  4. Anger and fear.
  5. Passivity and spiritual dullness.
  6. Lust and pornography.
  7. Defeat and self-rejection. And many more.

-Yes, demons are around us, affecting people and even some of us!

-We have to acknowledge first there is a problem, then we can address it!

-We must then understand, we wrestle against demons!

-But we must not fear them, we must take action in the spiritual realm by seeking and obeying Our God!

Isaiah 41:9-11-  “I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.  So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;  I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish”.

V. In order to demolish these demons, we must first build a foundation by going to the beginning of Jesus Ministry!

  1. Matthew 4:23-25 Ministry In Galilee: Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them. Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.
  1. We have to take the word of God literally, these things really happened and Jesus really cast out demons!

-Heb. 4:12-  For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

-Jeremiah 23:29- Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

-John 17:17- Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

-Prov. 30:5- Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
